Nestled in the heart of Wedowee, Alabama, Hacienda San Antonio Mexican Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Mexico that invites you to savor every bite. This vibrant Mexican eatery pairs a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a menu packed full of beloved classics and inventive specialties that bring the rich flavors of Mexican cuisine directly to your table.
The moment you step inside, the enticing aroma of freshly made guacamole and sizzling fajitas fills the air, stirring an appetite that’s impossible to ignore. Signature dishes like the Chunky Guacamole and Street Tacos deliver fresh, bold flavors—whether you crave the tender beef or chicken tacos, or the succulent shrimp tacos that explode with zest and spice. For something heartier, the Wedowee Special or the Fajitas Cancún burst with vibrant color and generous portions, featuring perfectly grilled steak or chicken served alongside fragrant rice, beans, and warm tortillas.
Notably, the chicken options are a delight of Mexican culinary craftsmanship: the Chilaquiles with its corn tortilla base soaked in special sauce and topped with shredded chicken creates a savory, comforting bite, while the Pollo a la Crema — grilled chicken in a luscious poblano cream sauce with onions and tomatoes — showcases a velvety richness that stays true to authentic recipes. Steak lovers will appreciate the juicy, expertly cooked Hacienda Steak platter, complete with shrimp and a tasty accompaniment of California vegetables and fries, or the flavor-packed Steak Ranchero and Steak a la Mexicana, each infused with vibrant bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes.
A highlight for many guests is the chips and salsa combo, complemented by the restaurant’s famed pico de gallo and bean dip. These starters are the perfect prelude to your main course, crisp and freshly prepared with an ideal balance of tangy and smoky. And don’t forget to indulge in the decadent desserts like warm churros with ice cream or the airy, sweet sopapilla with ice cream — a delightful finale that brings a comforting close to your meal.

Guests consistently highlight the friendly, efficient service, especially Erica, who ensures that chips never run out and drinks are promptly refilled, adding to a welcoming and relaxed dining experience. While the atmosphere can get lively—especially during karaoke—guests like Yvonne P appreciate the upbeat vibe combined with some of the best Mexican flavors in the area. The generous portions, flavorful salsas, and tender meats make leaving the table a true challenge because each dish invites one more delicious bite.

First time we have ever been to Taco Tuesday, anywhere. We loved it. We both ate for under $10, and got full. The tacos were fresh and delicious. We will definitely be going back! We both got 4 tacos each. Soft and hard shell, chicken and beef. I did add a side of sour cream, but still the ticket was only $9.84. Drink water, and you can eat like this too. Delicious!
The gal who waited on me she was awesome!! The food was most excellent I love going there.
Service was very good, the server was very friendly and efficient. Food was pretty good, not great. The karaoke was too loud it was very difficult to carry on conversation and the young children singing were really too loud. I enjoyed the company of the party I was with but it would have been more enjoyable if I could hear the people at our table.
This place was very busy but worth the short wait. The staff was friendly. The food was incredible. I am from the desert southwest and I grew up 60 miles north of the Mexican border. This food was so good and reminded me of home. I will definitely be going back and bringing my friends. Thanks to our waitress Erica, who was on top of her game. We never waited for drinks or had an empty chip bowl. Compliments to the chef. It was great!!
Sat afternoon, we had fajita for 2. The salsa hit my taste buds with a pow! Yep, good. The meat in the fajitas was tender and tasty, and plenty of it to satisfy us both. Pushing away from the table was hard. Best in the area mex food ! Big bar area. I will go back, we shall return soon. Friendly staff too. And a buffet too .10/5
My favorite mexican restaurant! Probably the best salsa I've had in a restaurant. They also have a really good tomatilla sauce. This place has great food and a great staff!
